Migration of Qi: Nurturing our body, emotions and mind through ‘flow’ with Liz Sommerville
Qigong means the ‘skillful cultivation of life-force energy’.
This workshop is for those who would like to experience and nurture the energy (Qi) within their own bodies and develop a connection with the universal energy field all around us.
This type of Qigong is practiced from a standing position and moves can (and should) be adapted to meet the individual’s fitness, flexibility and general health needs. Suitable for beginners and more experienced practitioners.
What is Qigong?
Qigong is an ancient self-care practice with the aim of nurturing health and wellbeing, preventing illness and increasing longevity. It was developed in China by Taoist sages over 3000 years ago. It has migrated from it’s origins in The East by means of direct transmission from master to student, across both time and place. Qigong works with the physical body and emotional and spiritual energy.
It involves breath-work, dynamic movement to activate energy and flowing movements and meditation to cultivate and transform energy.
Qigong aims to calm the mind, relax the body and replenish energy.
About Liz
Liz Somerville trained as a Wellbeing Consultant during the first Covid19 lockdown in order to offer support to people experiencing physical, emotional and mental health issues. She encountered Qigong as part of this journey and also experienced the benefits first hand after suffering a debilitating ankle injury that put paid to her daily running. Deciding to add this wholistic self care practice to her portfolio, Liz undertook training to become a Qigong teacher with Master Lee Holden. Based in South Shropshire, Liz offers regular classes in her local area for beginners and more experienced practitioners.
Forever a student, Liz continues with her studies in Qigong and is exploring the concepts within Taoist philosophy and its connections to Deep Ecology (the environmental philosophy promoting the inherent worth of all living things).
