What’s On – Music & Poetry
In the hub of the festival, entertainment will be provided by brilliant local bands The Fordsons and Slippery Slope.
Enjoy the Fordsons’ old-time, mountain and early bluegrass music from the Appalachias; music rooted in the folk ballads and traditional tunes imported to the USA by immigrants from the British Isles. Slippery Slope’s globe-trotting repertoire ranges from Irish folk to ska, Klezmer to French chanson. With steel pan adding a joyous Caribbean flavour to the more traditional folk group instrumentation of guitar, accordion and fiddle, they are guaranteed to get your toes tapping!
We are delighted to announce our Poetry offering for this year’s festival.
Saturday 3pm – Hill Poems with Jean Atkin,
Ledbury Poetry Festival is calling for poems inspired by hills and has appointed a Troubadour of the Hills, poet Jean Atkin, to lead this celebration of landscape, walking, weather, flora, fauna, wildlife, history, flasks of tea and more! Come and hear a selection of these hill poems and perhaps you will be inspired to write and submit your own.
