Block Printing

Hand Block Printing onto Fabric with Angie from Amber & Ayesha
Using a variety of intricately carved wooden blocks you will experiment with placement to create a complex design.
Traditional Indian patterns use floral and animal motifs and writhing foliage as well as more geometric elements for border printing.
These geometric patterns originated in Persia and were brought to the Indian subcontinent by the Mughals in the 16th Century.

Angie Breakwell
Angie is a clothes designer with a big love for hand block printed fabric created in Rajasthan. She first visited Jaipur in 2016 and went to see for herself the highly skilled artisans at work creating the most sophisticated prints. Fast forward 5 years and the dream of starting a slow fashion business exclusively using hand block prints was realised. Angie and her friend and business partner Farzana now run up a small studio from Farzana’s home in Jaipur where pieces are made for their brand Amber & Ayesha.
