Sarah Dukes

My birds are sculptures ranging from tiny wrens to larger-than-life size herons & curlews – I love creating all birds, in various positions and poses. They often seem to me like three dimensional drawings (I exhibited recently in the RBSA Gallery’s Drawing Exhibition). Passionate about protecting our planet from the disastrous impacts of climate change, I recognise the urgent need to increase people’s love with our natural world. Birds are a vital element of nature, and occupy a wide range of ecological positions, plus, are accessible to all, even those who live in the most urban of environments. Observing birds can give us a picture of what is going on in the world, as they are great indicators of environmental health.
