Peter King creates bold and dreamy sculpture from his studio in Herefordshire.
Originally from Yorkshire. He learned to forge metal at Hereford College in the 1990s, then continued his training by working for a renowned blacksmith in Wales. During this time he worked on the restoration of both the Albert Memorial and Windsor Castle. Over the past 21 years he has honed and developed his skills and artistry from his base at Wharton Court near Leominster.
Working with metal can be hot and hard work. He enjoys spending time in nature with his dog Bella. Exploring and walking in in the natural world can free the mind and result in inspiration. His aim perhaps is not to show off his acquired metalworking skills but more to find and express some meaning and harmony. To create works with balance and beauty, be they abstract in form or the expression of a particular plant.
Peter has spent time as Artist in Residence at Artspace India in Kolkata. His sculptures adorn beautiful gardens in the U.K. and beyond.
