Planting for People and Pollinators: How to ensure that everyone gets the best from your garden

This will be an open seminar where people can ask questions and experience what genuinely therapeutic plants should be and understand why they are best for nature, best for us , when to harvest and how to process.

Bio

I am a health scientist and have worked for many years in nursing, academic fields as a senior lecturer (mental health) and a research fellow in complementary and integrative medicine. I live on the banks of the River Wye and have been an environmental campaigner here since arriving.

In 2020, I stopped work and began to experiment with my garden plants to make essential oils, teas, tinctures and so on. I have been doing this in a small way since childhood, but most of my knowledge was academic. I also took up beekeeping.

Every year, I plant for my bees and all of the other pollinators, in the area, paying particular attention to which plants will benefit them the most and can also be used for medicinal and other purposes, as an alternative to commercial products that are all too frequently made up of inferior ingredients or dangerous chemicals. I save and re-use as much as possible, and aim to use minimal packaging that can be reused easily rather than go to waste.

When I’m not in the garden, I fish, swim, kayak, walk and work with Breinton orchard Meadow CBS to restore and re-wild our beautiful local orchard.
