Working from combinations of wood, metal and reclaimed objects Nik Burns creates original and striking interpretations of human, animal, insect and fish forms.
‘The interaction of materials is central to my practice’, Nik often uses reclaimed objects to Bridge the gap between wood and metal elements, these sometimes offer a nostalgic reference for the viewer and an extra point of interest.
Nik’s fascination with creatures was born at an early age and has remained with him into adulthood. The opportunity to explore these interests within his art began as he studied a contemporary applied art degree at Hereford College of Arts, he completed the three year course as a mature student in 2013 achieving a first class with honours.
Since graduating Nik has gone on to win several awards and exhibits both nationally and internationally.
